DMCA & copyright policy
ModLock respects the rights of game developers, artists, mod creators, and other copyright owners. This page explains how to request removal of material and how to raise a mistake.

About this policy
This policy covers material on modlock.gg and www.modlock.gg, and downloads hosted at files.modlock.gg. ModLock is a catalog curated by velvetfog; visitors cannot create accounts or upload mods.
Copyright notices should come from the copyright owner or someone authorized to act for them. If you are reporting a missing credit, an unauthorized reupload of your mod, or another concern, you can also contact us with the relevant links without preparing a formal legal notice. Trademark and privacy complaints should go through the Contact page.
Send a copyright notice
Copyright notices and counter-notifications
[email protected]Suggested subject: Copyright takedown request
Before submitting a notice, consider whether permission, a license, or a legal exception such as fair use allows the disputed use. A formal DMCA notice should contain:
- The copyrighted work. Identify the work you own or represent. For multiple works, provide a representative list. Link to the original work where available.
- The material you want removed. Provide each affected ModLock page URL and enough detail to locate the disputed content. Include the direct download URL, filename, image, sound, or other component where relevant.
- Your contact details. Give your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email. If acting for someone else, identify the copyright owner.
- A good-faith statement. State that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, their agent, or the law.
- An accuracy and authority statement. State that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you own or are authorized to act for the owner of the exclusive right allegedly infringed.
- Your signature. Sign physically or electronically. A typed full name can serve as an electronic signature.
Send the notice in writing. If information is missing, we may ask you to supply it so we can identify the material and assess the request. Knowingly misrepresenting infringement or a mistaken removal can create liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
Review and removal
We review copyright complaints promptly. On receiving a sufficiently complete and valid notice, we act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the identified material. We may temporarily disable a mod while reviewing a complaint. If the issue concerns a single asset, the mod may remain unavailable until that asset is removed or the rights issue is resolved.
We reply to the sender with the outcome or a request for clarification. When another contributor is affected, we take reasonable steps to notify them. Relevant notice information may be shared as needed to handle the dispute; we do not publish complainants’ contact details on the site.
Removal can include the listing and its hosted download. It cannot recall copies already downloaded or remove content from other websites. We will not knowingly restore the same disputed material while a valid complaint remains unresolved, except through an applicable counter-notification process or another lawful resolution.
Mistakes and counter-notifications
If we removed the wrong material, email the affected URL and explain the error. If your material was removed following a copyright notice and you believe the removal resulted from a mistake or misidentification, an applicable formal DMCA counter-notification should include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the removed material and its location before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the removal resulted from a mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and telephone number, plus an email address for replies.
- Your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address, or, if outside the United States, any judicial district where the service provider may be found, and your agreement to accept service of process from the original claimant or their agent.
Send it to [email protected] with the subject DMCA counter-notification. A formal counter-notification is a legal statement. Its full contents, including contact details, may be provided to the original claimant.
Where the DMCA counter-notification procedure applies, we forward a compliant counter-notification to the claimant and restore access between 10 and 14 business days after receiving it, unless we receive notice that the claimant has filed a court action to restrain the disputed activity. Material may remain unavailable for a separate, lawful reason.
